Whether you are a novice or seasoned paddler, there is always something to learn. The sessions will be informative and interactive, in a fun, group environment, where you can learn  from your fellow paddlers as well experienced coaches.

We will spend 3 sessions during the day as follows:

10 - 11 am - Session 1: Paddling Technique - Optimize, simplify and move well!
Starting on land, will utilize the Nelo Powerhouse to break down the paddle stroke, and show you how to work with what you've got to move well, optimize your paddle stroke and get more bang for your buck!

11:30 - 12:30 - Session 2: Flatwater - taking what we learnt on land, we will put it into practice on the water. Getting instant feedback from your coach, you will have the opportunity to refine and optimize your paddle stroke.

~ Lunch Break ~

1:30 - 3 pm - Session 3: Downwind - We will do a Home Valley Run as a group. Re-grouping often to give feedback, and ask questions.
After catching the shuttle back to the camp we will get dry clothes and hang out at the Nelo tent for a debrief, and Q&A session.

Includes:
- Basic safety talk
- Mobility exercises to help you move well and optimize your stroke
- Strength exercises to help you perform at your best
- Technique tips
- Downwind Coaching
- Q & A

Please note:
- You will need your own boat (we do have rentals available)
- You will need a PFD and leash
- You must be able to re-mount in any conditions

Refunds

We do not offer refunds, but can you defer you to another year / event. If you are unable to make it to the Gorge Downwind Champs event, please reach out and we can try and accomdate your request. Please note, we tend to sell out on coaching events, and if you cancel, we would have had to turn away paddlers.

Weather

If we do not get enough wind to run the downwind part of the workshop, we might defer to another day to allow for optimal learning.

Requirements

You need to have your own boat and safety gear. Unless this is a novice intro session, we expect you to be able to self-rescue, and remount your boat in any conditions.
